I had a bad string day a few weeks ago. The yard was looking good — every blade of grass cut and ready for a nice trim around the edges, just like the beautician does to me. Out came the string trimmer, with only one problem, no string………so, I went to Walmart, happened to see Randy (the local expert for any kind of tool), told him what I needed and he proceeded to explain how to wind string on a reel for the string trimmer. I found the correct size string, paid for my new adventure and headed back home with string and knowledge. Out came the trimmer, out came the reel and I began to wrap the string around the nice little frame, smiling from ear to ear. I almost got it completely wound, when I lost my grip and the string unwound in 1/10th the time it took to wind it! That’s okay, I’m a patient person, I merely resolved to keep a tighter grip. I wound and I wound and held on tight, completed my task with my smile back on my face and tried to slip the end into the hole that keeps it secure, when……….you got it, lost my grip and it unwound. Well, I was not going to be beat by any little reel and string — I can do this! I held my grip; I got it wound; I slipped the end into the hole; laid it on the counter and walked away, pleased as punch. As I entered the dining room I heard a plbbbbbbbbt…….you guessed it, unwound.
Note to self: when you’re losing your grip on things, don’t leave it on the counter, complete the task and put it where it belongs.
