I’ve never called in sick on a Sunday morning in all my years in ministry.  Snow, sleet or rain I showed up every Sunday to perform my ministerial duties.  But, all streaks of good inevitably fail at some point.  It almost happened; I almost called in sick, well not sick, but unable to get there.  You see…….I couldn’t lift my hullavator— what does one do when one’s hullavator doesn’t budge?  I unlocked it; I locked it; I unlocked it again; I fussed at it; I slapped it; I read and re-read the directions; I looked toward heaven for help.  Then I happened to lean on one arm of my Hullavator (kayak rack) and it released and lifted to the roof easy as pie.

Note to self:  when things won’t move in the direction I need them to — look to heaven and lean into the problem.
