I am not your typical shopper. When I have a need, I research the product, look up prices on-line, then search the appropriate stores and make my purchase. Walking around a store looking for stuff to add to my collection is not my idea of fun. There are two good reasons for my lack of enthusiasm: 1) I’m a miser, 2) I have other more important things to do, like kayak or hike.
But………I decided this Christmas I would deviate from my check giving tradition and buy some gifts for my children and grands. So, I went to Walmart, Target and Gabe’s and I walked down every aisle looking for something extra wonderful that they could open. I don’t know what they want and I don’t want to spend my money on something they don’t want. After hours of walking around, I came home with 8 tubes of Burt’s Bees chapstick.
Maybe it’s the walking around that I don’t like because it takes time. So, I found out that I could shop on-line on Black Friday and get good deals — wonderful, I’ll try again. First of all, which store, then which department and then which item. I don’t know………..besides, I had other more important things to do on Friday. Then I found out I have more chances on Saturday, Sunday or Monday to save a bunch of money. So after church I decided that I would get this job done. I found a store and they had great deals on really nice stuff. So I shopped and shopped and felt so good about all the money I was saving.
It was the end of my shopping spree and time to pay, so I opened up my cart and guess what? Every item in the cart was for me, not my kids! So I deleted the cart and closed my computer. Guess I’ll go write the Christmas checks.
